Wilton Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Inc. (WVAC) Welcomes Successor Vice-President to Executive Operating Committee

Brian Raggio became an Emergency Medical Technician in 2007 and joined WVAC that same year. Brian was promoted to crew chief in 2008, appointed Fleet Supervisor in 2009 and was elected Vice-President in January 2014.

Patrick York, who previously served as Vice-President, recently voluntarily resigned from the position due to career demands outside of WVAC.

“I would like to take a moment to thank Patrick York for all of his hard work as Vice President of the Ambulance Corps.” says Brian.

“I have known Patrick since my time with the Wilton Police Explorer Post 58 in the early 2000’s. During my time as Sergeant, I took on Patrick as a new Explorer. When I received my promotion to the rank of Captain, I promoted Patrick to Sergeant shortly thereafter.  Patrick and I became close friends during this time.  When I completed the Explorer program, I stayed on as an adviser and proudly watched Patrick become Captain,” explains Brian.

During his term as Vice President of WVAC, Brian hopes to build a strong membership by increasing membership and creating effective incentives and appropriate recognition for volunteers.  Brian is also interested in obtaining a BLS fly car for use by crews, increasing communication capabilities and offering opportunities for new training methods.

“My vision for WVAC is for it to become a world class EMS agency that will attract qualified members from all over the state,” says Brian.

Brian is also a skilled marksman and firearms expert.  As an avid member of the shooting industry, Brian devotes many hours to perfecting his skills on the range, researching new training techniques and working on his gunsmith skills.

Brian’s other great passion in life is sailing.  An alumnus of the Wilton High School Sailing Team, he skippered a Club 420 out of Cedar Point Yacht Club in Westport, CT.  Brian was also a member of the Norwalk Sea Scouts Ship 6 Program where he earned the rank of Boatswain's Mate.  During his time with the Sea Scouts, Brian and his crew won the Block Island Race week XIX for their class.

Brian was also a volunteer firefighter with the Georgetown Volunteer Fire Dept for two years and currently works for a Wilton-based Generator Company.  The eldest of three boys, Brian moved to Wilton while  in grade school.  His brother, Peter, is also an EMT with WVAC.
