Christine Dartley, 77, of Wilton

A memorial service will be held on Saturday December 7, 2013 at the Wilton Presbyterian Church at noon with a short reception to follow.

Christine Dartley, 77, of Wilton passed away on November 26, 2013 at Norwalk Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Christine was born on April 17, 1936 in Chicago, IL to the late John and Claire Johnson Nordstrom. Chris lived in Chicago and then St. Louis until her family finally settled in Auburn Massachusetts where she graduated from Auburn High School. Chris worked for Pan Am Airways in New York. She married Kenneth J. Dartley in 1967 and they lived in Ridgewood New Jersey until 1976 when they moved to Wilton.

Chris loved to travel and visited many parts of the world. She was an ardent student of Archeology, science and astronomy, taking many home courses and some archeological field trips. Chris was a student of history and loved books. She was the unofficial Librarian at the Wilton Senior Center. Chris was a long time member of the Board and the Historian for the Fairfield County Chapter of the Embroiderers Guild of America. Embroidery was her passion. In addition to many projects of her own she loved to collect antique works of embroidery from all over the world. Chris was a Yoga enthusiast and loved walking.

She is survived by her husband Kenneth James Dartley, Their son Kenneth Anders Dartley, his wife Erin, her grandson Finn James Dartley, her sister Kay Baker of Dennis Massachusetts and many nephews. She is predeceased by her sister Gretchen Anderson of California.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday December 7, 2013 at the Wilton Presbyterian Church at noon with a short reception to follow. The Wilton Presbyterian Church is located at 48 New Canaan Road, Wilton, Connecticut Tel. (203) 762-5514.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Chris’ name to the Wilton Historical Society for programs and activities encompassing embroidery and other needle arts in conjunction with the Fairfield County Chapter of the Embroiderers’ Guild of America or to a charity of your choice.
