Louise Jacobson Stabell, 93, of Norwalk, went to be with the Lord December 19, 2013, at Norwalk Hospital after a short illness.  She was the wife of the late Paul A. Stabell, who went to be with the Lord in 1986; they had been happily married for 45 years.

She was born in Georgetown (Wilton) on October 2, 1920 to the late Eric Rudolph and Hildur (Ekstrom) Jacobson.

She attended local schools, was employed in the offices of C. B. Dolge in Westport and Gilbert and Bennett Mfg. Co. in Georgetown, was married on July 19, 1941, and moved to Norwalk in 1947.

She was very active in the local churches of the Evangelical Covenant Church, having been baptized, confirmed and married in the Covenant Congregational Church in Georgetown.

At Bethlehem Covenant Church in Norwalk, and at United Covenant Church in Wilton, she served in various ways, volunteering in the church offices, Chair of the Missions and Social Concerns Committee, Secretary of Covenant Women Ministries, Board Secretary, Assistant Organist, and Choir member, among others.  She was the representative of her church to Church Women United, and volunteered at Elderhouse for many years.

In her later years, she kept busy doing church work from home, and knitting for the homeless.

Louise enjoyed reading and television programs – especially history. geography. quiz programs, and old sit-coms. She was a contestant on “Jeopardy” in 1969 when it was shown from Radio City in New York, with Art Fleming as the host.  She also enjoyed cross-word puzzles and board games, especially “Trivial Pursuit”.

She is survived by her three sons:  John (Gale) of Mukwonago, WI; James (Ruth) of Norwalk, and Thomas (Mary) of Wallingford; her two daughters, Susan (Joseph) Nemec of Wilmington NC, and Christine (Larry) Arnette of Norwalk.  She also leaves 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.  In addition to her husband Paul, she was predeceased by her son David in 1993, her step-grandson George in 1988, and her son-in-law Larry in 1999.
