Wilton's Rum and Soldiers

What was Wilton like in the early 1800's? Did you know that rum and soldiers played an important role in everyday life?  Join the Wilton Historical Society for this historical document lecture by John Reznikoff and Robert Russell on Thursday September 19th, from 6-8pm.

A well-known authority and writer on the subject of rare documents and manuscripts, John Reznikoff will speak on historic documents he recently donated to the Wilton Historical Society, including inventory from the original Betts Store that shows the quantity of rum sold in Wilton, and also letters written by soldiers.  Following  Reznikoff’s  talk, former 1st Selectman and town historian, Robert Russell, will speak about the document’s significance to Wilton history. Historic and contemporary rum beverages will be served to those over the age of 21.

The Wilton Historical Society is located at 224 Danbury Road in Wilton, CT. For more information about this event please call 203-762-7257 or email info@wiltonhistorical.org.
