"After Vincent" by Ridgefielder Robert Riche at Theater Barn!

The staged reading of this fascinating play is being presented free of charge at 7:30pm, Tuesday 4/23. Light refreshments will be served. Join us!

The Ridgefield Theater Barn is proud to present a staged reading of the original play After Vincent, by Ridgefield resident Robert Riche, April 23rd at 7:30pm. 

 

In the face of universal scorn of Van Gogh's paintings and pressure from her family to destroy his works, Johanna Bonger Van Gogh persisted in saving them and exhibiting them, and thus preserved for the world the work of the 19th century modernist painter.

The play deals with Johanna’s gradual and increasing admiration of Vincent's work as well as with her efforts to calm her husband, Theo, who sank into madness shortly after Vincent's death.

Robert Riche's plays have been produced or given staged readings in numerous U.S. theaters, in San Francisco, Atlanta, Washington, D.C., Staten Island, off-off Broadway, as well as at the Bristol Old Vic, England. Mr. Riche who lives in Ridgefield, is a recipient of the NEA grant, the Connecticut Foundation for the Arts grant, Advanced Drama Research (Rockefeller) grant He is a Norman Mailer Writers Colony scholar, Breadloaf Writers Conference scholar, and winner of the national Stanley Drama Award. He has written movie and TV scripts on assignment for CBS, NBC, ABC and Viacom.


Directed by Karen Pope and produced by Marla Manning, the play will be presented in a free staged reading.  No reservations are required.  Seating is theater style and light refreshments will be served.  Doors will open ½ hour prior to curtain.  For more information please visit www.ridgefieldtheaterbarn.org
