Danbury Resident Charged With DWI in Wilton

A Danbury woman was charged with driving while intoxicated in Wilton July 8 after a hit and run, according to police.

Heather Rogalski, age 52 of 24 Saddle Rock Road, was allegedly involved in a hit and run accident on Nod and Olmstead Hill Road at about 1:30 p.m. where she reportedly crossed the yellow line and swiped another vehicle, according to police.

Her car, a 2008 Toyota Camry, was reportedly located traveling south on Danbury Road about 10 minutes later after officers received a report of a vehicle driving erratically, police said.

Rogalski failed a field sobriety test and was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to drive in the proper lane and evading. She was released on a promise to appear and her court date is scheduled for July 18.

Other arrests:

A Brookfield man was charged with possession of marijuana in Wilton July 7, according to police.

Ryan Deakin, 27, of 6 High Ridge Road, was reportedly stopped by officers at about 11:20 p.m. for failure to drive in the established lane, according to police.

Officers reportedly detected the odor of marijuana, to which Deakin allegedly admitted to having lit a joint prior to stopping, which he said could have caused him to swerve in the road, according to police.

Deakin reportedly surrendered a container with a glass smoking pipe and a small bag with less than 0.5 ounces of marijuana, police said.

He allegedly did not show any signs of intoxication and was permitted to drive away, according to police.

He was charged with possession of less than 0.5 ounces of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia and issued an infraction ticket, according to police.

A crash on Route 7 July 5 led to an infraction ticket being issued to a Brooklyn, N.Y., resident, according to police.

Tracey Coward, age 47 of 2810 Bedford Ave., was reportedly traveling north on Route 7 behind Carolina Rozwadowski, age 18 of 57 Village Walk in Wilton, at about 4 p.m. when Rozwadowski stopped to allow traffic to pass before turning left, according to police.

Coward was allegedly unable to stop her vehicle in time and rear-ended Rozwadowski's vehicle, police said.

Rozwadowski was transported to Norwalk Hospital for treatment for head and neck pain. Two passengers in her car, Alec Chiavon and Roberto Aravena, both 18-year-old Wilton residents, were also transported to Norwalk Hospital for treatment for neck pain, according to police.

Coward was issued an infraction ticket for following too closely, according to police.

A Redding man was charged by Wilton police after a car accident July 4, according to police.

Timothy Shea, age 55 of 61 Hopewell Road, was traveling with three passengers in his car and was turning left onto Route 107 from Route 7 at about 11:30 p.m. when he reportedly hit the vehicle of Daisy Demata, a 56-year-old Danbury resident, police said.

Demata was traveling north on Route 7 and had received the green light when Shea allegedly pulled in front of her vehicle and ran into her, according to police.

Shea told police he thought he had a green left turn arrow, police said.

Demata was transported to Norwalk Hospital for evaluation of possible injury and a passenger in Shea's car was evaluated on scene but refused transport to the hospital, according to police.

Shea was charged with failure to yield right of way for a left turn, police said.

A Wilton resident reported a suspected burglary and larceny from a parked Jeep July 6, according to police.

The Pheasant Run Road resident reported that between the evening of June 26 and the morning of June 27, an unknown person allegedly accessed a locked Jeep in the driveway, possibly through an opening in the soft top, police said.

The person reportedly stole a wallet worth approximately $90, 12 bottles of beer worth about $15 and six bottles of wine worth about $80, according to police.

As of July 9, the department was still investigating the case.
