A witness told police that a shotgun emerged from the passenger side window of an unmarked white van driving on Silver Spring Road; when the vehicle stopped, the shotgun discharged, killing a wild turkey at around 6 a.m last Friday, May 24, police said.
According to Captain John Lynch of the , the incident occurred in the area of 14 Silver Spring Road. Reports did not indicate how far away from houses that the shotgun was fired, but that the van’s occupant(s) apparently just stopped in the road, shot the turkey, and then continued driving on afterwards. The turkey's body was still present when police arrived
Lynch said the incident was unusual and that the crime broke several different laws, including the felony charge of unlawful discharge and a number of different hunting violations.
The van was reportedly “similar to a laundry delivery van with no markings,” according to Lynch.
