Drive-by Shotgun Shooting Kills Turkey in Wilton

A witness reported to police that a white van stopped on Silver Spring Road in order to shoot and kill a turkey before driving off.

A witness told police that a shotgun emerged from the passenger side window of an unmarked white van driving on Silver Spring Road; when the vehicle stopped, the shotgun discharged, killing a wild turkey at around 6 a.m last Friday, May 24, police said.

According to Captain John Lynch of the , the incident occurred in the area of 14 Silver Spring Road. Reports did not indicate how far away from houses that the shotgun was fired, but that the van’s occupant(s) apparently just stopped in the road, shot the turkey, and then continued driving on afterwards. The turkey's body was still present when police arrived

Lynch said the incident was unusual and that the crime broke several different laws, including the felony charge of unlawful discharge and a number of different hunting violations.

The van was reportedly “similar to a laundry delivery van with no markings,” according to Lynch.

Yeah, somebody's pet, somebody's kid on a bike, a jogger, a shot through somebody's window... where does it end? So as long as it's not you or somebody/something you care about, pulling out a loaded gun and shooting to kill indiscriminately in a residential neighborhood is OK?

Well if you guys have a guy like that things have really changed since I was a young man living in Wilton... I did not mean to make light of the fact.. it is just depending in what part of the country one lives ... Down here in Reality country even though the liberal North does not believe in it we hunt and before we had nuts killing each other in schools every young man had a rifle in the back of his pickup parked at school. They would hunt before classes and after classes it is a way of life in the South. Now I respect The Values up North are ok for you. and the anti gun sentiment is strong .. the news loves to take a story like this and rev it up to show that guns are bad.. no the gun is not the problem the idiot who used it is . and just because he shot a turkey does not mean he is going to turn around and start killing pets or people. believe me if that were the case there would be more signs of the abhorrent behavior before this. Down here in TN we just say boys will be boys and he pays his fine and can not get a hunting license for a couple of years... America is such a wonderful country laws should stay local and if you all decide to hang this poor fool that is your community now.. that is why I left the North.

Something like this turkey slaughter will only encourage a poor city boy from Kenya via Chicago with a loaded drone randomly killing off little people and thugs in remote villages. Kinda makes you yearn for the good old waterboarding days eh?

Honestly, someone wanted dinner. It was pretty stupid but it probably wasn't a random act of violence. They most likely realized that someone would bust them and they drove off before they could retrieve it.

Stephen Colbert:"Now Al Qaeda operatives aren't just afraid to move up, they're afraid to look up. Because Obama has carried out more than five times as many covert drone strikes as George Bush. So what's behind the President's righteous kill spree? Could it be he's just gunning for another Nobel Peace Prize? Good luck, sir. Or could it be moral authority? You see, the President campaigned on a promise that he would shut down the prison at Guantanamo but that turned out to be real hard. So, rather than sending prisoners to Gitmo, he is taking the high road by sending them to their maker. As 'The NewYork Times' puts it, 'Mr. Obama has avoided the complication of detention by deciding to take no prisoners alive.' It's brilliant. He doesn't have to worry about habeas corpus because after a drone strike, sometimes you can't even find the corpus."
