Driver, 84, Rear-Ends Car at Stoplight: Domino Effect

Three cars collided at stoplight on Ridgefield Rd after an 84-year-old driver failed to see a pick-up stopped for a red light.

On Nov. 8, three cars were involved in an accident at the intersection of Ridgfield Rd and Belden Hill Rd in Wilton.

On. Nov. 8 a 2013 Honda CRV driven by Michael Vogt of Westport was stopped in the southbound lane of Ridgefield Rd for a red light at the intersection of Belden Hill Rd when a 2004 Chevrolet pickup driven by Joseph Polito of Wilton was stopped behind the Honda.

A third car, a 2005 Acura TSX driven by Catherine Chann, 84, of Wilton, was traveling southbound on Ridgefield Rd, and, according to Wilton Police the operator did not see that the pickup was stopped and collided into its rear causing it in turn to strike the rear of the Honda. 

The Acura was towed due to extensive front end damage, according to Wilton Police and its driver was transported by Wilton EMS to Norwalk Hospital for a minor injury. 

No arrests resulted from the accident
