DUI on Pelham Ln Leaves Driver Injured

On Jan. 7 Christopher Hill, 48, of 35 Boulderbrook Rd in Wilton was charged with DUI and Failure to Drive in Proper Lane after his 2007 Toyota Utility RAV4 struck a CL&P utility pole. Hill's Toyota was traveling northbound on Pelham Ln when it traveled off the right side of the road and struck the pole.

Wilton Police detected the strong odor of alcohol on Hill, who admitted to having been drinking and said he thought he had skidded on ice before striking the utility pole.  After an investigation and standard field sobriety tests, which Hill did not successfully complete, he was arrested for DUI.

The accused agreed to two breath tests and blew a .252 BAC on the first and .252 on the second test.

Police learned of the incident through a complaint from a homeowner on Pelham Ln who heard the accident.

Hill initially declined medical treatment, according to Capt. Lynch, but suffered from a bump on his forehead which began swelling while at police headquarters and he was transported to the hospital. Hill has a court date of Jan. 17.
