Erratic Driver, 53, on Rte. 7 Arrested on Multiple Charges

The driver of a Mercedes S500 was observed operating his vehicle erratically and was stopped. He was charged with DUI, Evading Responsibility and Failure to drive in Proper Lane.

On Sept. 30, 2013 at 7:15a.m., Jedd Hoover, 53, of 40 Peaceable St. in Redding was operating his 2001 Mercedes S500 southbound on Rt. 7 when he crossed the center line and sideswiped a 1998 Ford Mustang being operated by a 51-year old Norwalk woman in the vicinity of Rt. 7 and North Main St., according to Wilton Police.

The accused continued southbound on Rt. 7 and was observed by officers a short time later operating his vehicle erratically and was stopped. The accused failed the field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. Damage to the left side of his vehicle matched that to the damage of the Ford, according to Wilton Police.

The operator of the Ford was treated on the scene for minor cuts by Georgetown EMS.

The accused provided a urine sample for testing. According to Wilton Police the urine test goes to the state lab and they don't yet know exactly what the driver was under the influence of as there was no odor of an alcoholic beverage. There were some empty prescription containers in the car.
