Two separate businesses reported the theft of copper wire in Wilton last week, bringing the number of reported incidents since December up to seven.
On Jan. 3, workers at a construction site reported 23 spools of wire—18 of electrical cable and five of structural cable—were stolen. On Jan. 7, a business on Godfrey Place reported the theft of roughly $1,500 worth of copper wire.
Five thefts of copper were reported in town in December. Thefts have also been reported in Wilton earlier in 2012.
Last month, police released a surveillance photo of a suspect who had likely be stealing copper downspouts off of residences in town.
