Danbury Man Arrested for $56K Theft

Wilton Police say jewelry and electronic equipment were taken from the residence on the morning of Sept. 10.

A 44-year-old Danbury man was charged with burglary in the third degree and larceny in the first degree in connection to the theft of approximately $56,000 of jewelry and electronic equipment from a home on Freshwater Lane.

Andre Genest allegedly broke into the residence sometime during the morning of Monday, Sept. 10. According to police, Genest then stole a safe from a bedroom closet.

Police saw Genest driving down Chestnut Hill Road on Tuesday, Sept. 18 and initiated a traffic stop. Genest was then arrested and taken into custody.

While in custody, it was determined Genest had violated his parole. He was held in custody until his Sept. 19 court date.

Brian Lowrie, 22, of Surrey Glen Road was charged with larceny in the second degree after turning himself in on an active warrant for his arrest on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 3 p.m.

According to police, Lowrie was babysitting at a home on Pine Ridge Road. Following that, the homeowners noticed that some of their jewelry was missing. Lowrie subsequently admitted to stealing it and told police he had sold the jewelry to a shop in Stamford—about $2,000 worth—where it was recovered.

Lowrie was released on a promise to appear at a Sept. 28 court date.
