UPDATE: Westport Manhunt Suspect Steals Another Car, GFA Lockdown Ends

Police chased a stolen Jeep at speeds over 100 miles per hour on I-95 prior to the driver getting off the highway at Exit 19, according to police dispatch.

 

Update: 2:49 p.m.

A car was reportedly stolen from 35 Beachside Avenue, according to police dispatch. The vehicle is a black 1996 Honda Civic coupe. The license plate reads 761-ZOY.

The school is now off lockdown. The police are faily confident that the suspect has left the area. Students are being dismissed as normal, according to Allison Freeland, Director of Communications at Greens Farm Academy. 

All after-school activities at Greens Farms Academy will go on as planned.

Update: 2:19 p.m.

All parents are being advised to go to Beachside Avenue to pick up students. Officers will escort students to their parents' cars. Parents will not be allowed to enter the Greens Farms Academy driveway, according to police dispatch.

Update: 2:07 p.m.

All students are being moved into the gym, which will become the pick-up area. The gym is nearby the school's entrance, according to police dispatch.

The seizure patient will be turned over to Westport EMS at the school’s loading dock, according to dispatch. 

Update: 2:00 p.m.

Someone reportedly had a seizure in the Greens Farms Academy cafeteria, according to police dispatch. The patient is currently with the school nurse and an ambulance is en route.

Nearly 50 cars are lined up outside of the school and police are attempting to clear the streets of the cars, according to dispatch.

Update: 1:53 p.m.

Greens Farms Academy students are being escorted out of the school, five at a time, by Westport police, according to dispatch.

Update: 1:45 p.m.

Police tentatively plan to end lockdown at Greens Farms Academy's normal dismissal time. Search teams will stay inside of the school until all students have departed, according to police dispatch.

A Fairfield police K-9 unit is currently searching the area along with Trumbull's K-9 officer.

Update: 1:30 p.m.

The Greens Farms Academy maintenance barn has been cleared by police. Students will be held in the cafeteria as soon as it has been cleared by police, according to police dispatch.

Surrounding police departments have been advised that Westport may need additional officers, according to dispatch.

Update: 1:00 p.m.

Greens Farms Academy in Westport — where several Wilton students attend — is currently under lock down and being searched by police as a developing story unfolds. Officers responded to the school this afternoon to conduct a search of the campus and all of its facilities, according to police dispatch.

The stolen vehicle the suspect was initially in, a green Jeep, was found abandoned on school property, according to dispatch.

Five officers are conducting a search of the school, which has upper and lower buildings on the campus. Fairfield police have established perimeter around the school and Trumbull police are responding with a K-9 officer, according to police dispatch. Greens Farms Academy is contacting all parents to inform them of the situation.

The Greens Farms train station station is being checked by Fairfield police. The Westport Police Department has implemented a “code red” announcement for the Greens Farms area of town.

Westport and Fairfield police officers Friday morning were in multiple pursuits attempting to stop a stolen car, according to police dispatch.

Both departments have taken posts along Greens Farms Road and the Westport Police Department has sent officers to an area school for additional protection.

Sherwood Island authorities were notified early on to be on lookout for stolen green Jeep Cherokee with black rims. The driver is described as a black male wearing sunglasses, according to police dispatch.

The Westport Police Department has issued a “code red” announcement for the entire Greens Farms neighborhood, as officers are concerned the suspect may break into a home or steal another car, according to police dispatch.

The stolen vehicle was seen at about 11:30 a.m. in the driveway of 95 Beachside Avenue, but it is no longer there, according to police dispatch.
