Woman Charged with DUI After Investigation into December Head-On Collision

Hermina Hale, 51, of 9 Robertson Ave. in Cos Cob was arrested by Wilton Police on Jan. 14 for DUI and Failure to Drive Right after an investigation into a head-on car collision back in December. 

On Sunday, Dec. 8 at 7:20p.m., Hale was traveling northbound on Rt 7 in a 1998 Honda Accord when she crossed over the double yellow lines and collided head-on with a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado pickup being driven southbound by John Gilbert, 49, or Norwalk, according to Wilton Police. A passenger in the Silverado, Aurelia Gilbert, complained of pain to the ribs and was transported to Norwalk Hospital, as was Hale. 

Subsequent to an investigation, Wilton Police determined there was probable cause to believe Hale had been operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and obtained a warrant for her arrest. Hale had a BAC of .10 

Hale, who turned herself in to Wilton Police on Jan. 14, has a court date of Jan. 24.
