Husband Arrested in Wake of Grumman Ave. Shooting

Charles Garcia was arrested on a warrant on New Year's Eve.

A 47-year-old man was charged with assault in the first degree and unlawful restraint in the first degree following an investigation into a shooting incident which occurred at a Grumman Avenue residence in November 2012. 

Charles Garcia, who lives at 35 Grumman Avenue, was held on $100,000 bond after police determined he broke the law following a domestic altercation with his 39-year-old wife during which a rifle was discharged. Garcia and his wife both sustained injuries to their faces from the single gunshot fired.

The arrest was made on Monday, Dec. 31 at 9 a.m. According to The Wilton Bulletin, Garcia was released from Yale-New Haven Hospital earlier that day.

While his wife remained conscious following the shooting and contacted police from a neighbor's residence, Garcia suffered "life-threatening injuries," police said.

Gary Lorentson, the couple's landlord, said Garcia and his wife—along with their two children—have lived at the house since December 2010. He
