A 31-year-old Wilton male was arrested by and charged with two counts of forgery in the second degree following an investigation into the sale of a motor vehicle to a woman. The arrest was made on Sept. 1 at 1:23 a.m.
According to police, Maris Stretinskis—posing as Morris Strops—sold a vehicle to a woman, forging the vehicle’s registration, bill of sale and title in order to complete the transaction.
Upon investigation, it was determined Stretinskis, a native of Latvia, had been living in America illegally since 2002 and was wanted by Immigrations and Customs Enforcement.
Stretinskis was also charged with having an out-of-state driver’s license for more than 30 days after moving to a new state.
He was held on $5,000 bond and given a Sept. 4 court date.
