iPhone Stolen in Unsolved Home Burglary

The sound of footsteps was the first indication of trouble in a reported burglary July 6 in Wilton, police said.

A female teenage resident of a three-story house on Spectacle Lane reportedly came home shortly before 1 a.m., and after a short period of time, she allegedly heard footsteps and the front door of the house closing, as well as some voices, according to police.

Although she initially thought that it was the sound of other residents of the house arriving home, she then reportedly heard footsteps on the floor above her and called a friend to come over, police said. The female's parents arrived home shortly after, according to police.

At that point, it was discovered that a jewelry box in the master bedroom had reportedly been tampered with—though there was nothing reported missing—and an Apple iPhone, worth $100, was allegedly missing from another room, police said.

When the residents all went outside of the home, they reportedly saw a heavy set white male dressed in dark clothing running across the yard and out to the road, police said.
