Local Man, 24, Charged With DUI after December Roll Over Left His Jeep Stranded on RR Tracks

On Jan. 24 Joseph Milazzo, 24, of 5 Mather St in Wilton, turned himself in on an arrest warrant stemming from an incident that took place on Dec. 9, 2013 in which his vehicle, a 1996 Jeep Cherokee, rolled over and ended up partially on the railroad tracks, resulting in a disruption to Metro North train service. 

Milazzo who was charged with DUI had a BAC of .18. 

In the original incident  Milazzo traveled onto the opposite side of the road while heading south on Mather Street. He subsequently struck a stone wall, resulting in his car rolling over and coming to a rest on the west side of Mather Street, off the road and on MTA property with the car's front end in a final resting position on the railroad tracks.

According to the original report, train service was suspended for approximately two hours while the investigation was conducted and the scene was cleaned up. His vehicle was removed via wrecker.  

According to Lt. Wakeman, during the original incident, Milazzo said he did not know how the accident happened.
 
At a briefing on Tuesday, Jan. 28, Lt. Wakeman said that Milazzo submitted to a urine test to the state and Wilton Police served a search warrant for Milazzo's records at Norwalk Hospital. Though Milazzo's car came to a rest on the train tracks, MTA Police did not lodge charges, and the scene did fall within jurisdiction of Wilton Police. 

Wilton police charged Milazzo with Failure to Drive to the Right on a Curve and DUI. He has a court date scheduled for Feb. 3, 2014.
