Man, 43, Killed Overnight in Central Norwalk

A 43-year-old Norwalk man was found shot dead shortly after 2 a.m. Thursday on Leonard Street in central Norwalk. Norwalk Police on Thursday issued this news release about the incident (map links indicate the streets mentioned, not exact locations on those streets):

On Thursday morning, 05/15/2014, at 02:16 a.m. Norwalk Combined Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a man down in area of Isaac Street in Norwalk.

Officers responded to the area and located one male victim who had been shot lying on the pavement of Leonard Street, just a short distance away.
Officers attempted to render medical aid however discovered that the victim was deceased.

The area was secured and a crime scene was established. The Detective Bureau and Crime Scene Unit responded. Investigators documented the scene, searched for and collected evidence as well as canvassed the neighborhood for possible leads.

The victim has been identified as a 43-year-old male Hispanic Norwalk resident. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
Some of the victim’s family members are out of the country and we have been unable to reach them at this time.
