Man Arrested After Pushing Swizzles Manager

A Wilton man reportedly pushed the manager of Swizzles after feeling his daughter had been harassed, according to police.

Charles Schneider, age 52 of 86 Pelham Lane, reportedly went to Swizzles, located at 5 River Rd., to confront the 31-year-old manager because he felt that his daughter, a Swizzles employee, was being harassed by the manager, police said.

The manager had expressed suspicion to the employee that money was missing from the store's register, and the store has a policy that if more than $5 is missing, the employee is subject to termination. The manager had reportedly talked to the employee concerning reimbursement for the amount missing, which Schneider allegedly took to be harassment, according to police.

Schneider told police he believed there was about $2 missing, while the manager told police there was more than $2 missing, police said.

When Schneider entered Swizzles, he allegedly walked behind the store's counter and pushed the manager, reportedly causing the manager to hit a wall and fall down as Schneider yelled and pointed at him, according to police.

Schneider reportedly first told police he had tripped over a mop bucket, but when officers reviewed surveillance footage of the incident, Schneider admitted to pushing the manager, according to police.

Schneider was charged with breach of peace. He was released on a promise to appear and his court date is scheduled for July 26, according to a police news release.
