Man Arrested for Stop & Shop Larceny

A Bridgeport man was arrested July 19 after an attempted shoplifting at the Wilton Stop and Shop July 13, according to police.

William Ambrose, age 33 of 113B Abner Court, was arrested on a warrant for the attempted crime, which had happened the previous week, police said.

Ambrose and a woman had reportedly been seen taking a small and a regular-sized shopping cart out of the south side of Stop and Shop without paying. When the store manager followed them out into the parking lot and yelled for them to come back, the two left the carts, which were full of various groceries worth about $1,500, in the parking lot and drove away, according to police.
