Jorge Cedeno, 30, of Uniondale, N.Y. was charged with forgery in the first degree, larceny in the sixth degree and attempted larceny in the sixth degree after he was caught with 31 counterfeit $100 bills in Wilton on Friday, Oct. 12.
According to police, an owner of a business on Route 7 reported to the department that a man might have tried to use a fake $100 bill to buy items from the store.
The man was eventually found at another business on Route 7. Police found 31 counterfeit $100 bills on him.
Police said the man had successfully passed off one of the fake bills at a separate business earlier that day. He bought a pack of cigarettes.
Cedeno was held on $25,000 bond and given an Oct. 22 court date.
