Train Service Suspended after Wilton Driver Crashes, Lands on Tracks

On Dec. 9 a vehicle was traveling south on Mather St when the operator, 24, Joseph Milazzo of 5 Mather Street traveled on the opposite side of the road and struck a stone wall.

According to Wilton Police, as a result, the vehicle rolled over and ended up in a final resting position on the west side of Mather Street, off the road and on MTA property with the car's front end in a final resting position on the railroad tracks.

According to Lt. Wakeman of Wilton Police, train service was suspended for approximately two hours while the investigation was being conducted and the scene cleaned up and the vehicle removed via wrecker.

"The vehicle rolled over and sustained extensive damage and is considered totaled by our estimate," Wakeman said in an email to Patch on Tuesday.

Milazzo was transported to Norwalk Hospital for medical treatment and the investigation is pending, according to Wilton Police.
