Norwalk Fire Dept. Respond to High-Impact Single Car Accident on Reed St.

The following information was provided by The Norwalk Fire Dept.

The Norwalk Fire Department responded to single car accident on Reed St. at 11:47am Wednesday afternoon. 

The incident began on Interstate 95 northbound just prior to the exit 14 as the driver suffered a medical emergency. The male driver and his wife driving a late model Jeep Laredo from West Virginia, were able to exit the highway at exit 14, and just missed hitting two cars before striking a tree 200 yards from the end of the exit ramp.

Once the car was firefighters stabilized the car they assisted Norwalk Hospital Paramedics with boarding and collaring the patients, due to the high speed impact with the tree. They were both talking to Paramedics at the scene.

Norwalk Police closed the eastbound side of Reed Street 30 minutes while emergency crews worked and are investigating the cause of the accident. The fire department cleared the scene by 12:30pm.
