Road Rage Leads to Breach of Peace Arrest

A road rage incident led to an arrest July 5 in Wilton, according to police.

The Hamden Police Department took a Danbury man into custody July 5 for an arrest warrant held by the Wilton Police Department, according to a Wilton Police news release.

The warrant was issued on May 28 after an incident on May 13 where David MacDowell, 28, of 247 Great Plain Rd., allegedly became angry at the vehicle behind him while traveling on Route 33, police said.

MacDowell reportedly felt the vehicle behind his own was tailgating him, so he stopped his car in the road, approached the vehicle and began yelling at the female driver, who had two children in the car with her, according to police.

MacDowell allegedly struck the woman's vehicle with his fist before getting back in his own car and driving away, police said. The woman obtained MacDowell's license plate number and called the police after the incident, according to police.

He was reportedly homeless, so the department was unable to locate him initially, police said.

MacDowell was charged with breach of peace in the second degree, according to the news release.

After being arrested July 5, MacDowell was released on a $500 bond. His court date is scheduled for July 15 at state Superior Court in Norwalk.
