Search for David Riek Enters Day Two

Emergency crews continue their search for the missing Ridgefield resident, and a post has been set up for volunteers to receive assignments to help.

It's now been more than 24 hours since David Riek was last seen, and after postponing the ground search last night due to weather and darkness, crews have once again head out in search of the 44-year-old Ridgefield resident.

A Command Center has been set up at 48 High Valley Road in Ridgefield, where local and state police, firefighters and volunteers gathered at 8:30 a.m. to once again launch a coordinated search that includes the assistance of K-9 units.

Ridgefield police are directing anyone who wants to help in the search to the , located at 40 Florida Road, to receive assignments.

Police Lt. John McAllister said the staging area has been set up to avoid duplication of efforts and make sure that the scent-sensitive search canines aren't interfered with.

In an email to Patch late last night, Ridgefield Fire Chief Heather Burford recapped yesterday's efforts:

"Today we had about 25 emergency workers, several canines, and about 35 friends and family help in the search. Through the night there will be routine patrols of the area and the police are still seeking leads."

"We will resume in the morning with fresh canine units, emergency personnel, and volunteer searchers if necessary," she continued.

Riek was last seen yesterday when he left his residence off of Florida Road at 7 a.m. on Sept. 8, for one of his routine Saturday morning runs. A long-distance runner, Riek typically returns by 8:30 a.m., but he never came home.

Given the long-distance nature of Riek's runs, the search area extends several square miles. Police are asking anyone who may have seen him to call the department at 203-438-6531.

Meanwhile, the family and community are hoping and praying for Riek's safe return home. Several members of the community extended well wishes and prayers yesterday when the news of the search was posted on Patch.

Among those who left a were Riek's mother, , who wrote, "my son please come home and thank you to all the people , police, state troopers, fire fighters, volunteers anyone thankyou for helping us to look for our son, husband brother, friend and dad this is heartbreaking."

British soldier was hacked to death with a machete. The soldier is not allowed to have a gun but theRead More terrorists had a firearm but chose to behead the soldier. The suspects spoke to camera after attack. “We swear by Almighty Allah, we will never stop fighting you until you leave us alone. The only reasons we killed this man is because Muslims are dying daily. This British soldier is an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. We apologize that woman had to see this today, but in our lands our women have to see the same. You people will never be safe. Remove your government. They don’t care about you.”

Israel knows who their enemy is and are not afraid to call them out. After 4 Americans were killedRead More by terrorists in Benghazi, when violence in the Middle East was raging, President Obama in partnership with Hillary Clinton spent $70,000 in taxpayer money on a commercial that aired on Pakistani television apologizing for the "video." We are sorry. We are going to get the man who made the video who exercised freedom of speech and arrest him. Any terrorist suspects questioned yet?

PR - It appears that the writer of this item is none other than McMurphy who has been polluting theRead More Patch since the new format arose (just click on the writer's name and you will be taken to McMurphy's profile page). This person is also Randall McMurphy and all the old names including AZ. From all indications, he/she is also DB Cooper so this person is posting on this Board and then commenting on his/her own posts. As someone pointed out a couple of weeks ago, trying to trick other readers is a violation of the Patch's rules, and yet it continues.

@DB Cooper: Oh, you mean how you used your multiple personalities and screen names to flag me intoRead More oblivion? The thing is, it won't work this time. Try again, stalker. Try harder. LOL! You don't have enough fake personalities this time around to do such a thing. Thanks again for stopping by my blog. :) LOL! Hook, line, sinker.
