Serial Arsonist Gets 10 Years in Prison

Christopher Message, who set blazes in Fairfield, Monroe and Easton last year, was sentenced Friday to 20 years in prison, suspended after 10 years.

 

A former volunteer Trumbull firefighter who last year set blazes in Fairfield, Monroe and will serve 10 years in prison, The Connecticut Post reports

Christopher Message, 35, of Fairfield to setting numerous fires in the three towns causing hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of damage.

According to The Post, Message plead "guilty to six counts of second-degree arson, two counts of third-degree arson, three counts of first-degree criminal mischief and one count of reckless burning."

Message's sentence is 20 years, suspended after 10, followed by five years probation. While on probation, Message will perform 100 hours of community service and "make restitution for the damage he caused" while setting the 11 fires, The Post reports.
