Stamford Foursome Caught Stealing Liquor Bottles in Wilton

On Dec. 7 at 7:30p.m. two females were observed by staff at Wilton Ancona's Wine and Liquor Store at 5 River Rd. stealing liquor bottles, according to Wilton Police.

The women, Vanity Melendez, 19, of 19 Mayflower Ave. in Stamford and Elsie Alvarez, 28, of 88 Roosevelt Ave. in Stamford, ran through the parking lot to avoid the store manager, who called police.

Upon police arrival, a minivan was observed driving suspiciously and contact was made with the occupants of the minivan, Raymond Martinez, 30, of 88 Roosevelt Ave. in Stamford and Angel Rodriguez of 19 Mayflower Ave. in Stamford, by one officer, while the females were located by a second Officer.

According to Wilton Police, during the investigation it was learned that all parties knew one another and it is believed they traveled to the liquor store in order to steal. Police report that three Grey Goose Vodka bottles valued at $35 each, one bottle of Ciroc Vodka valued at $35 and three bottles of Patron Tequila valued at $45 each were stolen.

Alvarez and Melendez were both charged with Larceny in the 6th Degree and Conspiracy to Commit Larceny in the 6th degree. Melendez was also charged with interfering for providing police with false identifying information during her processing.

Rodriguez and Martinez were charged with Conspiracy to Commit Larceny in the 6th degree. Martinez was also charged with Operating without a License, Misuse of Registration Plates, No Insurance and Operating an Unregistered Vehicle.

All four accused were released on Promises to Appear except Melendez whose bond was set at $500. All four have court dates of Dec. 17, 2013.
