A 30-year-old Stamford man was stopped on Danbury Road, near Gaylord Drive South, after police determined his registration had been canceled. The motor vehicle stop took place at 8:35 a.m. on March 15.
Fiderl Romero, of Raymond Street, did not have a valid driver's license and was taken in to custody, police said. While in custody, he presented identification that proved to be fake after he was fingerprinted.
Romero was charged with second-degree forgery, criminal impersonation, interfering, driving without a license and driving an unregistered motor vehicle.
He was held on $50,000 bond and given a March 18 court date. Police said he was held on a detainer for Immigrations and Customs Enforcement.
Assorted hand tools, power tools and some copper wire was stolen from three motor vehicles parked behind Montanaro Electric. The theft was reported at 9 a.m. on March 17.
Seven copper downspouts were reportedly stolen from a Musket Ridge Road residence during the past 10 to 21 days, a resident reported to police March 17. The downspouts were worth about $500, police said.
