Stamford Woman Charged with DUI, Criminal Mischief

The arrest was made on Monday, Nov. 19.

Rachel Almeida, 28, of Stamford was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, criminal mischief in the third degree, failure to drive right and speeding following a motor vehicle stop on Danbury Road on Monday, Nov. 19 at 1:55 a.m.

According to police, Almeida was driving south on Danbury Road when she was clocked traveling 56 mph in a 40 mph zone. While trying to pull her over, officers observed her crossing over the double yellow lines and drifting into the northbound lane. 

Upon stopping her, officers detected the odor of alcohol and her breath and learned she had consumed alcohol before driving. She failed field sobriety tests and was taken in to custody.

While in custody, Almeida refused to submit to a breathalyzer test. She was then placed in a holding cell, where she stuffed a blanket in the toilet and kept flushing it, causing it to overflow. She was then moved to another cell, where she kept flushing the toilet, causing it to overflow as well. 

Almeida was released on a promise to appear at a Nov. 29 court date.
