Two More Business Owners Report Copper Thefts

The thefts were reported on Jan. 10 and Jan. 12.

Stop me if you’ve heard this before: Last week, two business owners in Wilton reported the theft of copper wire from their business locations.

These two reports come in the wake of numerous reports of copper thefts in Wilton over the past few months.

On Jan. 10, a Station Road business reported three spools of copper valued at $339 each, two spools of copper valued at $500 each, three spools of copper valued at $219 each and three other spools of copper valued at $339 each were stolen from its worksite overnight.

On Jan. 12, a business on Godfrey Place which reported copper thefts last week reported to police this week that an additional 10 spools of copper wire valued at $10,000 was stolen. The spools were chained together to prevent theft, police said.

“If we’re getting hit, it means other towns are getting hit too,” Captain John Lynch said Tuesday.
