Two New Recruits Sworn into Wilton Police Force

The pair will now complete training at the state police academy.

Wilton will have two new cops on the beat following a ceremony Friday. The pair were sworn in by assistant town clerk Kathy Cooper and will now complete training at Connecticut Police Academy in Meriden beginning on July 7.

The new officers are:

Stacy Welch, age 30 and resident of Norwalk.

  • Raised in Massachusetts.
  • Graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Connecticut, Storrs in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology, and a minor in Criminal Justice.
  • Obtained a Master of Education degree in Elementary Education from the University of Bridgeport.
  • Most recently a teacher employed by Greenwich Education Group.
  • Certified instructor of Israeli Krav Maga martial arts.


Eric Patenaude, age 31 and resident of Milford.

  • Raised in Milford.
  • Joined United States Marine Corps in 2005, serving until 2013.
  • Deployments in Afghanistan and Iraq.
  • Achieved rank of Sergeant.
  • Trained as Marine Special Forces Multipurpose Canine Handler.
  • Most recently a full time student at the University of New Haven, studying Criminal Justice.
