Wilton Man Charged with 15 Counts of Animal Cruelty

Jesse Sheldon of Chestnut Hill Rd is charged with starving 15 ducks and chickens to death.

Officers responded to 273 Chestnut Hill Rd on Dec. 6 for a reported domestic incident. Following investigation, it was found that the complainant, Jesse Sheldon, 31, had let 15 chickens and ducks starve to death.

According to Lt. Wakeman, Sheldon was taken into custody and held on a $7,500 bond due to the numerous counts involved.

"The chickens and ducks were in coops outside in the rear yard," Lt. Wakeman told Patch in an email.

"Animal Control was called in to assist the patrol officers with the investigation," Wakeman added. "The Accused indicated that he could no longer continue with the responsibility of caring for the chickens and ducks and stopped feeding them.  He felt they had too many animals already between the birds and numerous dogs and cats, in addition to caring for their children."

Sheldon was released after posting bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Dec. 16. The domestic incident was a verbal argument and no charges were filed.
