Andrew El Massri, 28, of Waterbury was charged with larceny in the third degree following after his alleged theft of a 2007 Jeep Liberty from Wilton in July.
According to police, El Massri allegedly crashed a stolen motorcycle in Ridgefield at about 10 p.m. on July 17. A passerby picked him up and dropped him off at Caraluzzi's about 10 minutes later. El Massri then walked to a Sunset Hill Road residence and allegedly stole the black Jeep from a driveway where it was parked. The residence was about a quarter-mile away, police said.
A few days later, witnesses in Waterbury spotted El Massri driving the vehicle two days later. He was also "witnessed by multiple people with injuries consistent with having been in a motorcycle crash."
Police developed enough probable cause to arrest El Massri on Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 12:30 p.m. in Waterbury. He was held on $25,000 bond and taken to court that day.
