Wilton Police Make Arrest in 2009 ID Theft Case

A former TJ Maxx employee allegedly used a customer's credit card in Wilton and Norwalk in 2009.

 

A 20-year-old Stamford resident was charged with theft of a credit card, illegal use of a credit, forgery in the third degree, larceny in the fifth degree and identity theft following serving him a warrant while he was in Norwalk Superior Court answering unrelated charges. The arrest occurred on Aug. 28 at 2 p.m.

According to police, Augusto Reyes-Ramirez was an employee at TJ Maxx in Wilton in November 2009 and shortly after a victim shopped there, that person reported to police their American Express card was used at Boston Market in Wilton and Best Buy in Norwalk without their consent. Together, those charges totaled $570.

Upon investigation, the victim told police the cashier at TJ Maxx had not returned the credit card following the transaction a few days prior. Shortly thereafter, Reyes-Ramirez quit his job at TJ Maxx and could not be located.

He was held on $5,000 bond and given a Sept. 7 court date.
