Wilton Teen Arrested with 'Meth Amphetamine Salts'

The arrest occurred on Nov. 23.

(Editor's note: This article has been updated to reflect a news release with police saying Rigby was caught with "meth amphetamine salts," which police said were "bath salts.")

The Wilton Police Department’s newest addition to the force, Enzo the K9, helped police apprehend two young men who were in possession of "meth amphetamine salts” and marijuana after a motor vehicle was stopped on Danbury Road, near Wolfpit Road, for not having its headlights lit on Friday, Nov. 23 at 6:10 p.m.

Quentin Rigby, 18, of Newtown Turnpike was charged with possession of a controlled substance and retention of an original drug container after Enzo helped police find a 15 mg capsule of "meth amphetamine salts," which was stored in a drug container for something else.

Zachariah Olmstead, 21, of Newtown, was issued an infraction for possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Rigby was released on a promise to appear in court on Dec. 3.

Amphetamine salts is medication for ADHD. Bath salts refers to designer synthetic drugs, which are not meth amphetamine. Please clarify which drugs the subject was alleged to posses.

It was an Adderall capsule for his sister’s ADHD, left in the car by his mother who forgot to give it to said sister one day. The car that was pulled over was his mother’s car and the cops illegally searched it because dogs cannot smell pills. So not only was it not Meth anything but it also wasn't bath salts which are synthetic designer drugs...

This article is BS! You cannot write this kind of stuff! It is absolutely incorrect! Bath Salts and amphetamine salts are two completely different things! See this article for the facts people; http://www.webmd.com/mental-health/features/bath-salts-drug-dangers To group meth amphetamines, adderall (amphetamines), and bath salts into the same thing is absolutely absurd. They are completely different chemicals. Amphetamines are prescribed to people for ADHD, in this case the drug BELONGED TO HIS SISTER! THIS IS POOR REPORTING!

Tsk tsk- I am disappointed in the Patch for such a flagrant disregard for informational accuracy, especially when used to justify an illegal search that will be overlooked due to the poor state of our legal justice sytem.

Wilton PD does a better job at shameless self promotion than anything else. Second Enzo story since the pooch joined the force. Bad news is he is clearly the best we have on the force.

Quentin has always been a target for criticism and accusation in Wilton, as he tried to march to the beat of his own drum. It is very nice to see 5 posts that not only support him but also negate the inaccurate information in this article. I hope the family brings a lawsuit for the misdoings of the WPD.

You deserve to be sued, he's Quentin's a good kid and he's a no way the bad guy here. It wasn't his to begin with, get your facts right and learn how to report before you decide to trash someone's reputation based on bullshit.

He is a completely innocent person being blamed for something he didn't even do. The police, or at least the person who wrote this, has no idea what the real facts are. No one should have to go through this bs with the possibility of not being able to go to college, especially Quentin.

Not sure of all the details here, but it seems odd that the name of this 19 year-old was quickly released (for a accusation that has since been ammended) and a couple in town who have been involved in a shooting have yet to be named.

Oh hey, you might want to look at this information about the "young man who was in possession of bath salts" ---THIS SEMESTER; http://www.thehour.com/community/on-the-honor-roll/article_b7b15ac5-00f8-5952-9125-b0a15818fbfb.html ---LAST SEMESTER; http://www.thehour.com/community/on-the-honor-roll/article_022fd9d6-41f0-5738-8cf1-8fd2d6b01a5a.html

Let's face it aside from church traffic and the occasional cat in the tree there is not much for our PD to do which makes easy targets out of our children to these bullies, Not only do we have to be subject to this nonsense because our officers have nothing to do, but now we have to worry about them trying to keep Enzo busy. Your kid could be next.

It wasn't "meth amphetamine salts" either. THOSE DON'T EXIST. The only thing even remotely close to what was described here is a 15 mg amphetamine salt pill. SEE THIS; http://www.drugs.com/imprints/m-amphet-salts-15-mg-15895.html
