Wilton Twins Arrested, One Held on $70k Bond

After a family altercation, police discover one of the Wilton residents has a long rap sheet.

Twin brothers were reported to police on Saturday, Jan. 15 for being involved in a loud altercation in their neighborhood.

A nearby resident told police that "he heard two men screaming near Range Road, and it sounded as if the two men were possibly fighting." Police responded to the scene and found Ian and Matthew Murray, both 23, with several small scrapes covering them.

"It appeared that they were wrestling with each other," said Wilton Police Lieutenant Don Wakeman. "We've had several dealings with the brothers and/or the family over the years."

The brothers were each charged with one count of disorderly conduct and Matthew Murray was released on a PTA for a Jan. 18 court date.

When police ran a background check on Ian Murray, however, they discovered that he had an outstanding warrant out of Norwalk related to charges of second degree burglary, first degree robbery and risk of serious physical injury. He was therefore held by Wilton Police until Norwalk officers could pick him up.

Ian Murray has not yet had a court date established and his bond was set at $70,000. Wakeman could not offer specifics of the charges Murray was facing except to say that he thought the outstanding warrant was either a failure to appear or a violation of probation.
