Hurricane Sandy: Malloy Holding Noon Briefing Today

The governor and lieutenant governor will meet with emergency preparedness and utility officials to discuss plans for dealing with Hurricane Sandy.

 

As Hurricane Sandy heads north Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman have called a noontime briefing with officials from the state’s Department of Emergency Services & Public Protection and with the heads of the state’s major utility companies.

The briefing is being called to discuss preparations for the storm. Though the current track of Sandy has it making landfall south of New England on Monday, the state is still expected to feel major impacts from it

William P. Shea, deputy commissioner of Connecticut’s emergency services, will attend today’s briefing with Malloy and Wyman. Also attending will be officials from CL&P, United Illuminating, AT&T, Cablevision, Comcast, Verizon, Charter, MetroCast, Cox and Sprint are expected to attend.

Following the meeting Malloy will meet with the media to discuss the storm preparation plans by the utility companies and state emergency officials.
