Wilton Teachers' Salaries Take One-year Freeze
Teachers not on the top-tier pay scale will effectively have one pay-step skipped over during the next three years.
Update, Jan 18: Official press release from the BoE

The Board’s position prevailed on the issues of salary in two of three years, including a freeze in the salary schedule in the first year. In the second and third years respectively, teachers at the top step of the pay scale will receive increases of 1.5% and 0.75%, and teachers not at the top step will move a total of two steps on the salary schedule over the three years of the contract. The Board’s position to institute a High Deductible HSA plan as the sole option for eligible employees, which will slow cost increases for health insurance over the life of the contract, also prevailed.
The Wilton Education Association’s position on premium cost sharing for participating employees prevailed at 14-percent in the first year, 15-percent in the second year and 16-percent in the third year. Additionally, the Board’s position on both general and Instructional Leader stipends prevailed.

The attached PDF document is a chart summarizing the results of the arbitration.
The Wilton Board of Education recognizes and greatly appreciates the excellent work and dedication of Wilton teachers. Their skill and hard work was never an issue. However, given the difficult times Wiltonians face, the moderation needed in future cost increases made resolution of the disputed issues, without arbitration, impossible.
The Board is pleased that the contract is now settled, and looks forward to continuing to work closely with the Association and Wilton teachers as we work together on behalf of the students."
Update, Jan 17 4:05 p.m.:
The Wilton Bulletin reports a "victory" for the Board of Ed, with teacher salaries freezing "at 2011-2012 levels for the 2012-2013 year. In years two and three of the contract, teachers at the top of the pay scale will get increases of 1.5% and 0.75% respectively. Teachers not at the top will move up a step a year."
More updates on the way tomorrow.

As can be seen in the charts below, teacher’s salaries have been steadily increasing. Teachers are awarded a pay-increase each year, called a step increase, of roughly 5-percent annually.
Here’s the comparison of teacher’s salaries as per the teacher’s union contract posted on the school’s website (note that this is not the full table):
