Weir Farm Reading Rangers: Help Protect the Past

Why should we preserve buildings and objects from the past? What can we learn about people in the past based on the items they leave behind? Let your children find their own answers to these questions and more in the next installment of Weir Farm National Historic Site's Reading Ranger program!

Join a park ranger 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, Jan. 8,  for the January program "Protecting the Past." Beginning with a read-aloud story in Weir Farm's cozy historic barn, Reading Rangers will then have a rare behind-the-scenes tour of the Weir House to see how the
National Park Service is preserving this important historic site. After the tour, children will create their own time capsule cases to save their important mementos.

This program is appropriate for children in grades K-4, as it intends to introduce younger children to Weir Farm in a fun and accessible format. However, children must have a parent/guardian remain
with them for the duration of the program.
