Wilton High Makes List of Toughest Schools

Wilton High School made it onto the Washington Post’s list of the most challenging schools in the country, numbering 784 out 2,000 public and private schools to make the list and eighth among 18 Connecticut schools.

Washington Post researchers compared the number of college-credit tests —Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB) and Advanced International Certificate (AIC) — taken each year against the number of seniors to graduate, the site explains. Any school to reach a ratio of 1 or better made it on the list.

Wilton High School’s index means the school administered 2.314 college placement tests for every Class of 2012 graduate.

The Post also cataloged the percent of graduating students to pass an exam (against the total number of graduates) and the number of subsidized lunches given at each school.

Wilton was also recently ranked sixth among Connecticut schools in U.S. News and World Report’s annual ranking of high schools.
