Wilton's Fire-Prevention-Poster Winners Announced

Four Wilton students win a total of $300 worth of savings bonds for their 2011 Connecticut Fire Prevention Poster Contest submissions.

“Fire Prevention: Everyone, Everyday” was the theme of this year’s Connecticut Fire Prevention Poster Contest, an annual competition in which fourth and fifth grade Connecticut students create and submit a poster for fire safety awareness.

Four Wilton students will take home $300 worth of savings bonds:  Two first-place prizes--$100 in savings bonds to each winner—went to fourth-grader Aarushi Dham and fifth-grader Ally Dejana . Two runner-ups, fourth-grader Eric Zhang and fifth-grader Olivia Borden, will receive $50 worth of savings bonds each.

The official bestowing of the awards will occur at Cider Mill on Thursday, Jan. 5. David Chaloux, President of the Wilton Firefighters Local 2233, will present the wards.

The local first-place posters will be submitted to the county-wide competition. The winners of the county competition will then be submitted for consideration for the singular state-level winning prize of $1,000 in savings bonds. The state winner will be announced on March 31, 2011, during a luncheon in which all county-level winners are to be invited.
