Blue Star Bazaar to Give Back over Black Friday Weekend

Blue Star will donate 10% of proceeds to Wilton Community Assistance Fund for local children's holiday wish lists.

Blue Star Bazaar, which opened at 148 Danbury Rd in the old post office building in early November is the dream come true for Wilton native, Megan Labant Abrahamsen.

The building that houses Blue Star – Old Hurlbutt Street Post Office – is the perfect size for Abrahamsen's boutique. Previously located on Hurlbutt Street, the building housed a general store with a post office operating from 1891 to 1901. The building was donated to the Wilton Historical Society in 1964 by Bob Carvutto and moved to Lambert Corners.

During the three-day weekend following Thanksgiving, Blue Star Bazaar will donate 10% of all sales to the Wilton Community Assistance Fund, which is coordinated through the Wilton Department of Social Services.

Blue Star Bazaar’s contributions will be used specifically to purchase American Express gift cards for children on Social Services’ holiday gift list.

"Black Friday shopping has become a hectic frenzy of early wake-up calls and long lines for low prices.  I wanted to do something to kick off holiday shopping that focused on the spirit of the season and an emphasis on quality rather than quantity," Abrahamsen said.

According to Abrahamsen, top gifts for adults include jewelry, watches, handbags, scarves, and picture frames.  For children, top picks include vintage inspired toys, winter pajamas, boys’ neckties, girls’ dresses, and picture books.  Shoppers can enjoy complimentary coffee, cider, hot chocolate and sweet treats throughout the weekend.
