Fairfield County’s Premier Charity Golf Tournament Benefits St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
The 3rd annual Honorine St. Jude Golf Classic will tee off on Monday, August 27th, at the picturesque Silvermine Golf Club in Norwalk. The event will provide a full day on the greens and an inspirational experience at the tournament awards dinner, including live entertainment, celebrity guests, a silent auction, and much more.
The Honorine St. Jude Golf Classic was established in 2009 by Scott Gance of Wilton, in memory of his parents, Anthony and Marcelle (“Honorine”) Gance, who generously supported St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for many years. The tournament carries on this tradition by creating a premium charity golf tournament with all net proceeds sent to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, one of the world’s premier centers for the research and treatment of childhood cancer and other deadly diseases.
The format is a Four-Person Scramble, and awards will be given for the Longest Drive, Closest-to-the-Pin, Hole-in-One, and more. Players will enjoy a barbecue lunch, practice and analysis on the driving range with a golf pro from The Golf Performance Center, a chance on the putting green, the opportunity to win an Audi A5 Cabriolet (the Hole-in-One award sponsored by Danbury Audi), cocktail hour with hors d’oeuvres, a gourmet awards dinner on the clubhouse patio, live musical entertainment, and the chance to win numerous awards, door prizes and silent auction items. The foursome with the top score will bring home the coveted Honorine St. Jude Golf Classic Championship trophy, each player will receive The Honorine Championship Jacket, and the team will win an automatic entry to next year’s Classic.
It is with great pleasure that the event committee announces a special performance at the tournament's awards dinner from internationally-acclaimed performer, Jeanette Vecchione. A much sought after coloratura soprano, Ms. Vecchione made her international debut at the Vienna State Opera as the Queen of the Night in Mozart’s Magic Flute. Her vocal talents will ensure the evening's inspirational segment is unforgettable.
Equally exciting is the addition of the local Connecticut band, Vasudo, who will be performing live music throughout the evening's festivities. Described as "an ode of liberation that goes wherever each moment takes it," the group creates music in the moment, visiting many genres throughout their shows, including rock, reggae, dance music, folk, jazz, improvisational, and even the occasional touch of country and grass when the mood hits.

BOSTON (Reuters) - The average 401(k) retirement balance for U.S. workers hit a record high of $80,900 in the first quarter, a growth spurt of 75 percent since the stock market's nadir in March 2009, Fidelity Investments said on Thursday based on a survey of its accounts.
Most of the recovery is linked to a stock market rally that has lifted the broad S&P 500 Index 145 percent since the close of trading on March 9, 2009.
The 401(k) recovery looks even better for workers 55 and older, according to Boston-based Fidelity, the largest U.S. administrator of 401(k) retirement plans. Those pre-retirement workers have seen their average balance nearly double to $255,000 since the first quarter of 2009 when the average balance was $130,700. The analysis covers people who have been with their current employer 10 or more years, Fidelity said.
