Beautiful Apollo needs second surgery to prevent blindness.

A common eye problem in dogs, "Entropion" is an inward rolling of the eyelid edges.

Apollo, a seven month old pit mix was rescued from a fighting ring with his sister only to learn that he needed entropian surgery to prevent blindness. After rescuing Apollo from the Mount Vernon Animal Shelter he went immediately to a wonderful foster home where he is learning basic training and socialization.

He is such a sweet and smart puppy and is always eager to please and snuggle despite the discomfort he is in. His second surgery is sure to end his discomfort and prevent what would otherwise result in blindness in the affected eye.

The first operation went well, but with this type of surgery, going in a second time to remove more of the eyelid was neccessary. Entropion affects many breeds of dogs, but is more common in the bully breeds.

Entropion is an inward rolling of the eyelid edges that causes the lashes to rub against the eye. This is a common eye problem and can be present soon after birth or acquired later in life. It most commonly affects the lower eyelids.

The surgeons at Central Animal are giving our rescue group Cat Assistance, a 501 (c) 3 non-for profit who helps dogs as well as cats, a considerable break, but funds are still needed.

Even the smallest amount will help. Remember donations are tax deductible.

I JUST donated. took me 3 tries to get it to take. But, I did my good deed. If I can do more later on I will. I did what I could for now. Note, I did this for the dog...NOT to help the people of New Canaan who wipe their feet on me and enjoy the good life while I grobble alone in the dust w/o love or anything
