Random Acts of Kindness Day Cheers Wilton

Wilton Chamber of Commerce members and town police officers hand out flowers at the 11th annual event.

Despite overcast skies and mist over Wilton, today was noticably brightened by Wilton Chamber of Commerce members and three of Wilton's finest during the 11th annual Random Acts of Kindness Day.

Over 500 roses, donated by Chamber member Stewart Flowers, were handed out to motorists at River Road near Stop & Shop Plaza on Friday morning.

According to the Chamber's newsletter, the event was designed to "encourage people to practice random acts of kindness within the community. Recipients can pay it forward with simple actions. Donate to a local charity. Pay a genuine compliment. Give a hug. Hold the door. Buy a great book for a friend. Make someone smile. Volunteer some of your time to someone in need. Walk your friend’s dog. Buy a lottery ticket for a stranger. Help someone with their groceries. Pick up litter on the street. Give up your seat for someone. Let the person behind you jump the line at the bank. Smile a lot. Send a thank you to someone who has helped you."
