To Market, To Market

The Farmers Market returns to the Wilton Library's parking lot for an extended stay.

Wiltonians can grab their tote bags and head to the library for farm fresh food.

The Wilton Farmers Market is back. Farm-fresh produce, fresh-baked breads and pies, granola, handmade soaps and body products, and organic teas are just some of the offerings available to hungry shoppers every Wednesday.

"Right now we have flowers and herbs, but as the season progresses we'll have produce," said Michelle Schulze of Hamden's Flowers from the Farm at the Shulze Farm. "And don't forget honey! Honey is good for allergies, and it's good on toast. And who doesn't like toast?"

The market comes from the collaboration of the Wilton Library and the Wilton Chamber of Commerce. Locals can find several vendors under white tents in the back parking lot of the library.

The market is a weekly melange of locally grown fruits, vegetables, free range eggs, homemade jams, herbs, and fresh cut flowers. The offerings will change as spring turns into summer.

Vendors will include Ambler Farm, Wave Hill Breads, Michele's Pies, Schulze Family Farm, Nod Hill Soaps, Duckeylife Organic Teas, Ola! Granola, Killam & Bassette Farmstead, and IzzyB's Allergen Free Cupcakes.

The market will be open each Wednesday from 2 to 6 p.m.  It began yesterday and will continue through the end of October.
