Wilton Volunteer Ambulance Corps Announces Scholarship Winners

Three volunteers will receive funds toward their educations in health-related fields.

Wilton Volunteer Ambulance Corps (WVAC) is pleased to announce the recipients of this year’s scholarships: Jessica Co-Reyes, Lawrence O’Halloran and Kerri Rees.

Each year, members of WVAC who are pursuing careers in a health-related field are invited to apply for a scholarship. Jessica will be attending Washington University in St. Louis majoring in Biomedical Engineering. Lawrence is enrolled in a post baccalaureate pre-med program at Manhattanville College and Kerri will begin the nursing program at St. Vincent’s College in the fall.

WVAC is a not for profit emergency medical service that provides 911 emergency ambulance coverage to the town of Wilton. As the name suggests, they are primarily a volunteer organization. They have roughly 50 members, most of whom are Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) trained to render care ranging from simple splinting of a broken finger to lifesaving emergency defibrillation using an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED).
