Wilton Carnival, LWV Talk on Human Trafficking, Wilton Reads

Here's are some cool happenings in Wilton this week.

Wilton Carnival hosted by Wilton Rotary Club takes place this weekend at Rte 7 and School Road. Friday, Sept. 20 to Sunday, Sept. 22.  The hours are as follows: Friday from 6:00p.m.-10:00p.m., Saturday from 12:00-10:00p.m. , and Sunday from 12:00-5:00p.m. 

Wilton Reads 2013: The Cutting Season with Joanna Ecke 

Wilton Library’s  Fall 2013 selection for the community reads program, Wilton Reads, is Attica Locke’s latest work, The Cutting Season.  In this sweeping story of the south, Attica Locke provides an unblinking commentary on politics, race, the law, family and love.  Ms. Locke will be at the library to discuss her work on September 27, at 7:00 p.m.  Join Joanna Ecke, a graduate of Smith College with a doctorate in literature from Duke University, for an evening discussion of this work prior to Attica Locke’s appearance on September 27. Registration recommended.

The Wilton League of Women Voters opening meeting and luncheon is scheduled for Friday, September 20, 2013 from 11:15 am-1:30 p.m. at the Wilton Library's Rimer Room. The guest speaker will be Alicia Kinsman, Esq, the Director of Victim and Trafficking Services at International Institute of Connecticut  The presentation is entitled: “Identifying and Responding to Victims of Human Trafficking” For reservations click here.
