The Civil War, Pet Vaccines and Movies This Weekend Around Wilton

Here are five things Wilton residents need to know for the weekend of Aug. 16-18.

Here are a few things to know about Wilton from Aug. 16 through Aug. 18 to help you plan your weekend. Check out the Patch calendar of events for more things to do.
  1. The weather: The weekend forecast in Wilton calls for mostly sunny skies Friday and Saturday and some clouds on Sunday, with high temperatures in the high 70s all weekend.

  • Learn about the Civil War: The Norwalk Historical Society presents the Civil War BBQ and Encampment at Mill Hill Historic Park Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sample food from local vendors, visit with the Civil War re-enactors from the 11th Regiment Connecticut Volunteer Infantry, Company A  in their encampment to learn about life as a Civil War soldier. Tickets are $13 for adults 12 and older; $9 for children 4 to 11; and free for children 3 and under. Mill Hill Historic Park, 2 East Wall St., Norwalk.

  • Enjoy the annual Cannon Grange Agricultural Fair: From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Wilton at 25 Cannon Road. The fair includes judged exhibits in Bakery, locally grown Vegetables & Fruit, Flowers, Sewing & Needlework, Crafts, Photography, Eggs, Homemade Spirits, and farm animals.   • Get your dog or cat vaccinated: Visit the low-cost vaccination clinic for dogs and cats Sunday at 10:30 a.m. in Bridgeport. Vaccine package pricing available. Free examination with purchase.   • Check out a free movie, part 1: “No” (2012) (Not Rated; 1 hr. 52 mins.) at the Darien Library Friday at 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. The film will be shown in Spanish with English subtitles.
